TutorFox’s tips on how to get a 5 on the AP European History exam
The AP European history exam is significantly different from the AP US history exam. The AP European history exam covers a much larger time span and a larger spectrum of information. There are many more names, events, wars, and treaties to remember. Although remembering all this information may seem like a daunting task, with enough studying, it can be easily achieved. TutorFox.com recommends studying months before the actual exam and never leaving studying to the last day. It is recommended that students who plan to take the AP European history exam also take the corresponding class at their high school. Much like all other AP tests, practice is key.
The AP European history exam consists of a free response section and a multiple choice section. Unfortunately, the CollegeBoard does not release its multiple choice questions every year since they are usually recycled from year to year. TutorFox.com recommends looking on the web for some practice multiple choice questions. The free response section consists of a document based question (DBQ) and a thematic essays. The CollegeBoard releases the free response questions off its most recent AP European history exams. For exams dating further back, it would be a great idea to ask one’s high school teacher. High school teachers are also given copies of the free response questions every year, and some may have exams dating back up to twenty years. TutorFox.com advises taking as many free response sections as possible in order to do well on the exam. Students should ask their teacher to go look over their essays in order to find out where they stand.

There are tons of practice books on the market for AP European History. REA’s AP European History-The Best Test Prep for the Advanced Placement Exam is an excellent book, but contains much more information than is needed for the actual exam. REA’s AP European History contains six full length exams, which is the most offered by any study aid for the exam. All six practice exams are based on official exams released by the CollegeBoard. TutorFox.com recommends buying this guide just for practice exams and its extensive review of the course .
TutorFox.com highly recommends using The Princeton Review’s Cracking the AP European History Exam as a study aid. Unlike REA’s study aid, The Princeton Review’s Cracking the AP European History Exam only covers information that will appear on the test. The Princeton Review study guide teaches students strategies on how to approach questions and ultimately helps them achieve the highest possible score they can get. With two full length practice aids, it provides excellent practice for the actual exam.
